PROGRAM: The AIM Program at The Bronx Museum of the Arts provides training, encouragement, and a venue for exhibition to emerging visual artists from the New York metropolitan area. For working artists.

ARTISTS SPACE / NEW YORK

PROGRAM : A non-profit gallery and art service organization which provides exhibition opportunities, professional assitance, and financial support to artists. Exhibition program focuses on contemporary visual arts, and is accomonied by ongoing video program, periodic film screenings, and other events. Artists Space mission is also realized through two service programs: the Artists File & Artists Grants. Mediums open. Every artist who shows receives an honorarium, financial assistance with materials and installation costs, and transporation for their work. No commission on sales. All exhibitions are documented. Also available: Video Program, Film Screenings and Events.

Of special notes is the Independent Project Grant (IPG), which provides financial assistance to artists and curators for the public presentation of their work in a non-traditional exhibition space. The program offers up to $500 to individuals, groups of artists, and curatorial proposals and is designed to assist visual arts, film and video, and performance projects. Applications will be judged based on how well they fit the criteria below. Grants are available to emerging artists and curators to help organize and produce self-initiated exhibitions, performances, site-specific works, Internet projects, screenings of films and videos, as well as other art events and artists?projects that are open to the public and that occur in a space that does not usually function as an exhibition space. These grants are for artists and curators who are acting on their own behalf and without the resources of institutional sponsorship. The grants can assist in meeting the costs of press releases, announcements, postage, and installation costs. Visual artists needing assistance for production of specific exhibition projects in computer arts and new media are also eligible.

P.S.1 NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL STUDIO PROGRAM

PROGRAM : Contemporary Art Center in Long Island City awards studio work-space annually to approximately nineteen artists working in a variety of media. For working artists.

DEADLINE : Application deadline is April 15.

NATIONAL FOUNDATION FOR ADVANCEMENT IN THE ARTS


PROGRAM : The foundation aims to identify emerging artists and assist them at critical junctures in their educational and professional development, and to raise the appreciation for and support of the arts in American society. Arts Recognition and Talent Search (ARTS): Through this national program, 17 and 18 year-old artists may apply for college scholarships. Artists in the categories of dance, jazz, film and video, music, photography, theater, visual arts, voice, and writing are eligible.

DIEU DONNE PAPERMILL WORKSPACE PROGRAM

PROGRAM : Dieu Donne invites emerging artists to apply for its workspace program to produce new projects in handmade paper. New York State working artists from all disciplines are eligible to apply. Each artist chosen will receive $700 honorarium, advance preparation of materials, and professional assistance during a seven-day collaboration.

DEADLINE : Deadline is in January each year.
